Getting the Zune to work on Sabayon Linux

Recently Purchased a Zune and was hoping that it would work on my Sabayon Box. After plugging it in and running Amarok, it was a no go, finally got it to at least read the contents after updating libmtp and rememerging Amarok with the mtp use flag. Still not able to fully sync with Amarok.

I found an article where you can use Windows on a VMWare machine. Since I don't have VMWare, I used VirtualBox, and after some cussing, kicking, and clawing... I finally got it to work. Here's what I did.

First download the following files:
XP SP3 RC2

Zune 2.3 with updates

(of course, make sure you are up to date (layman -S && emerge --sync))

I assume you know how to use linux CLI and VirtualBox (oh and Windows XP)
You'll need your Windows XP Disc...

Setup your Virtual Computer
1.Run VirtualBox
2.Click New, then next
3.Name your VirtualBox (something useful, ie XP_Zune)
4.Select your OS type (Windows XP), then next
5.Select how much memory for your Virtual Box, then next
--Note: I chose ((actual memory)/2) (ie. 2Gigs = 1gig)
6.Select NEW, next... then choose HD type (dynamic or fixed size)
7.next, Name your HD (ie. XP_zune) then choose size, then next
8.Verify info, then finish
9.Then next, then finish.
10.Now your computer is setup, you need to install XP

Installing XP
1.Insert your XP disc in CD/DVD drive
2.Under the Details tab, click CD/DVD then select mount
3.Click on Audio, then enable (select your device), then OK
4.Select Network, then enable, then OK
5.Select USB, enable, also enable USB EHCI
6.while still in the USB section, plug in your Zune...
7.wait about 15 seconds, under USB device filters, you see a little usb plug with a plus sign on it, click it, you should see Zune, select it and then click OK.
8.Select Share Folders, then put path to your music
9.then OK.
10.Select your VirtualMachine then press the Start button
--NOTE: if you get an error stating that the vboxdrv isn't loaded, simply issued this command from a terminal: sudo modprobe vboxdrv
11.I'm not going into how to install XP. Google it if you don't know how.

After XP is installed
1.go to windows update and update the installer
2.install SP3 you downloaded earlier (I burned it to a disc)
3.after that is done and all reboots are done, install zune software
4.after that is done, reboot (if needed, I mean... it is windows) plug in your zune!
5.You should be good to go to sync now, via USB2.0

Additional Notes

Under Details Tab, you can share folders from your Sabayon File system. I am not able to add these folders to the Zune Library. Not sure why, but I can copy music/videos from these folders to my $user/My Documents/My Music Folder and this works. Not sure why it will not work. I mounted my Shared Folders as a "Network Drive." and Still no go. Maybe that's why...
If anyone has a better way of doing this, please let me know... I'm all about a better way...
